This exquisite sucrier, or sugar bowl, is covered in hand painted 19th century chinoiserie patterns with a delicate lustre glaze. Very unusually, the lid is secured to one handle with a thin chain (presumably to prevent loss or theft). The makers' mark shows the piece was made in England for the French export market.
17cm by 13cm. There is one very small historic chip to the rim of the pot, and the glaze shows some age related crazing.
